With that in mind, your built environment should be designed to support and inspire you now and in the future. M2 Studio's philosophy is that the Architect acts as a conduit who enables you (the client) to visualize and realize your vision. Our role is not to impose our personal vision or style on you, but rather to help you order and define an environmental style that functions, is appropriate, and has meaning for you.
We believe the environment is an expression and extension of self that is informed by place and program (use) whether that self is an individual, family, group, organization, or business entity and the place is site, status, or market. We will present designs that in our professional opinion embody a strategy and logic that reinforces your stated vision.
We develop a clear visual and functional expression in stages, beginning with planning, then developing a concept, and finally executing the design through construction.
Our Approach
Our three-stage approach is simple.
Planning (Pre-design and Documentation): In the planning stage we research, set goals, objectives, define design criteria, program the uses and functions, and document existing conditions. This is done through a single meeting or series of brainstorming, discussion, and visioning sessions. This information is compiled in the Project Design Brief.
Design (Preliminary Design): Using the Design Brief as a starting point, the design stage starts with a visualization presentation and discussion. Various images are presented, discussed, and evaluated for inclusion during the design process based on how well they relate to the design brief and reinforce the stated goals. Later, design concepts are generated, presented, discussed and refined. The design is revised so that it responds to the established criteria.
Execution (Construction Documents & Construction Administration): The approved design is developed in the documentation phase. This is the technical phase where design development drawings, budget estimates, and construction documents are created, permits applied for, contracts negotiated, contractors selected, and the project is built.
